nice to meet you!
Hi — I'm Shannon Li. I’m from Brooklyn, NY. I’m a designer at Nike based out of New York City. My design areas are product and brand design. This includes interest in art direction. I am also a freelance designer (on the side).
I went to University of Michigan and graduated with a BS and MSI in Information, with a focus on User Experience Research & Design.
much more to the story
-
centered around divergent and human centered design thinking in impacting ux experiences through an iterative process of research, ideation, designing & prototyping, documentation, testing, and delivering design. this is supplemented with roots in an inclusive, accessible, empathetic, intersectional lens to understand multiple users.

growing up, I always found myself in the kitchen, cooking with and for the people I love. at the start of my path within design, I began to understand how much the principles within cooking aligned with the principles of design and the importance of user-centered design. every aspect from understanding how important every ingredient no matter how small greatly impacts a dish and happily brings people together to the table are sentiments that are deeply held and intertwined. in design, I strive to understand every individual parts of a product (visuals, interactions, identity, and story) that when put together, speaks in volume to the power of a great user experience, grounded in validation, testing, and data.

as a queer woman of color, I grew up empathizing and understanding the difficulties of having conversations surrounding marginalized identities. I have been privileged and fortunate to have been able to carve a space to amplify the voices of queer people of color. within design, there is a lack of a centralized approach towards understanding the lived experiences of marginalized individuals and communities. how I design products are driven with purpose & intentionality, for changing how we communicate, and in deepening my understanding of identifying problems. human-computer interaction, real-world experiences, and the problems we face in our everyday lives, to me, very much influences and impacts how I design products.
